New fields on Government tab (for employees)

There are two new editable fields on the employee Government tab, enabling you to update previous employment information if you receive a P6 from HMRC for an employee created in Kashflow Payroll in a previous tax year.

Gross for Tax in other employment – another view of the existing field used as the current tax year’s opening balance for gross for tax in other employment. If there is already an amount for current tax year on the Opening Balances screen, it is displayed here.

Tax Paid in other employment – another view of the existing field used as the current tax year’s opening balance for tax paid in other employment. If there is already an amount for current tax year on the Opening Balances screen, it is displayed here.

On Submit

Click Submit to update the employee’s Opening Balances | Tax – Previous Employer for Gross for Tax & Tax Paid in the current tax year, therefore affecting pay calculations for the current tax year.

P60s

Figures in these fields appear on a P60 as previous pay and tax.

P45s

Figures in these fields appear as part of the total of pay and tax to date on a P45 created for the relevant tax year.

Year end

Both new fields clear down as part of the year-end process.

Rates of Pay on Payslips

  • When you use the Hourly, Daily, Weekly or Monthly rate of pay to calculate a payslip item, it is now displayed on the employee’s payslip
  • Where Times By rate is not x1 e.g. Time and Half Overtime =1.5, then Times By rate shows on the payslip
  • Where an Other amount is used e.g. Overtime > Other the rate and Times by amount show on the payslip

There is a now an Add Rate of Pay to Payslips? option on the Company | Setup Details | Payroll Control screen:

  • Select Yes to show the Rate of Pay on employees’ payslips where Show Rates on Payslip is selected on the payslip item. Previously finalised payslips will now show the Rate of Pay
  • Select No (the default) and previously finalised payslips will not show the Rate of Pay
  • Rate of Pay only displays where Times By value is not x1
  • When Show Rates on Payslip is turned on, if No is selected on the Add Rate of Pay to Payslips? option, then no Rates will show at all
