Accounting Terms

We’re very proud of the fact that, for the most part, we avoid using accounting terms and jargon where they simply aren’t necessary; the majority of our users aren’t accountants, so it doesn’t make sense for us to talk to people as if they are. Unfortunately, a lot of the other accounting packages out there didn’t seem to get that memo…! For those without an accounting background, trying to get one’s head around doing bookkeeping, invoicing etc in-house can be a bit of a nightmare. Well, not to worry; we’re here to help.

Decoding some typical accounting terms…

Accountants and bookkeepers spend years training and studying terms; as much as we’d like to be able to, there’s no chance of us converting that into a few web pages (imagine the SEO benefits!). However, there are some bits of terminology that crop up again and again. It’s these terms that we’ll do our best to explain!

You’ll also find lots of helpful information and articles about using KashFlow to keep your books in our Knowledge Base, as well as screenshots and video tutorials on getting to grips with your accounting. If you’re trying the software out and still can’t find any information about what you’re looking for, you can always expect a swift response from our Support team if you email [email protected]!

Unfortunately, accounting will never be a completely jargon free zone…

As nice as it would be, it’s impossible to eliminate all of the terminology that’s needed when you’re doing your bookkeeping and accounting; some technical terms have to be used. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be accounting! In this section of the website, we’ll talk about a few of the essential terms used in KashFlow and in the world of accounting. As we always do, we’ll try our best to make everything as simple as possible.

To get started, choose an accounting term you’d like to find out some more about from the menu on the right!
