There are a countless different business awards, but most of them are targeted at established businesses that have a trading history of at least a year or two – even those that claim to be for “startups”.

So it was refreshing to hear about uStartup.

The uStartup awards are aimed specifically at businesses that have been trading for less  than a year. Another big difference is it’s not London-centric like so many of these awards are. It was started by Richard Laverick in Sunderland and the regulation black-tie piss-up ceremony will take place at the Stadium of Light.

There are four different categories that you can enter, and KashFlow is sponsoring the Technology category.

So if you’ve been trading less than a year, hop over to their site and enter your business. But be quick, you’ve only got until midday on 17th June.

(For the cynics out there, I should point out that our decision to sponsor the award had nothing to do with the fact that it’s all taking place on the doorstep of the Geordie mafia.)
