The first step when getting started with IRIS KashFlow Connect is setting up your account and client default. This guidance will talk you through all the required steps. If you’ve not already done so register for an account by click here.
The first step is to prepare your default nominal codes for clients that you create in IRIS KashFlow Connect. KashFlow comes prepares with a standard chart of accounts however you can modify it as appropriate. Access this page by going to IRIS KashFlow Connect > Clients > Default Nominals.
From this page use the following options to create and edit a nominal set;
- Viewing Nominal Set – Use this drop down to select an existing set of nominal codes and edit them, or select Create New Set to create an entirely new set.
- Edit – click this button to edit the nominal code type, the nominal code number, the name, the classification and how it should be treated on a self assessment.
- By default, allow the client to edit these codes – Ticking this means that all clients created with this nominal set will be able to modify them unless you expressly change this within the clients profile. To prevent clients from modifying these codes in their chart of accounts unless you authorise it untick this box.
Creating a New Nominal Set
To create a new set of nominal codes use the Viewing Nominal Set drop down to select Create New Set. You’ll then be taken to the nominal set creation page. Give the set a name and use the copy from drop down to select the base codes to use, you can then modify as required.
The Default Settings page allows you to define a set of default settings that all new clients that you create will be set up with. This can be used to disable access to certain settings (i.e. VAT options, dropbox) or if your based outside the UK to create clients with your local settings (i.e. currency code, tax names). Similarly you can copy parts of another clients account (i.e. suppliers, products). Access this by going to IRIS KashFlow Connect > Clients > Default Settings
