Hi All, I could do with some IMPARTIAL advice on outsourcing sales. I'm sure if it's possible but what I would like to do is outsource all my sales activity to a telesale firm. This would involve: Sourcing leads - any small business in need of a mobile website - cold calling the leads and making a sale for a fixed package at around £200. I want to pay on a back end basis say 50% per sale. Is this pie in the sky stuff? Or are there decent firms out there that could deliver this sort of service? Any experiences you can share would be much appreciated. All the best, nigel
Nigel, welcome to the forum. I hope this isnt too silly, but what is a mobile website? As for sales, a lot of companies/people will want a fee per call or follow up lead created. Payment of closing business can be seen as risky as if they get a good lead and the client loses it, for whatever reason, they will lose out, although they have done what they have been briefed to do.
I can see that makes sense - maybe I need to look for a partner! A mobile website is one that is specifically designed to be viewed on a mobile phone or other mobile device - they are increasing in popularity due to the increased sales of Smartphones, like the iPhone.
Thanks for the update - would these run parallel with a normal website or be the main site? Sales is such an important part of your business, especially in the early stages, getting in right can influence it for years to come. Outsourcing is a good way, but you do not have as much control as you will like. Keeping it internal is best and partnering with/employing an expert is normally the best route, but not always.
WML (Wireless Markup Language) is the new web language for making sites on mobile phones. Over the past few months new WAP (Wireless Applications Protocol) phones have become extremely popular and many large websites have created special 'mobile' versions of their site. Many people predict that, over the next few years, WAP sites will become even morepopular and e-commerce over mobile phones will be widely available. is this something your offering to do or something your looking at doing??
WAP is being replaced by HTML... as phones are getting smarter, they are having a better understanding of HTML - I can view any webpage on the internet on my N96 - Including Youtube, A1 and many other sites in my long list of favourites.
WML is actually the old language used for WAP 1.0 new phones now support WAP 2.0 which uses XHTML-MP. We are not currently offering m-commerce sites (mobile e-commerce), not because the technology isn't there but our client base is SME's and the cost would be prohibitive.
Little bit of Jargon Busting for you WAP is the standard for transferring data wirelessly. "WAP (Wireless Application Protocol): A standard for applications that use wireless communication like mobile phones. Most modern phones support WAP 2.0, which uses XHTML-MP as the primary markup language while WAP 1,0 used WML." "WML (Wireless Markup Language): An XML language used to specify content and user interface for WAP devices. Often mistakenly referred to as WAP 1.0 given it is its default markup language." A mobile friendly website should be coded in XHTML-MP, not HTML. The reason you can view HTML sites on your Nokia, will be due to the virtues of WAP and the Symbian platform all Nokia's run on, which may transcode the site. Hope that helps.
most smart phones can surf ordinary websites just fine so doubt its still important to create a mobile website as its being called . I would say apps for smart phones are the way to go.
I live in france. I want to know if there is a website that sells and delivers mobile phones to countries outside the british isles i.e. to France, Gibraltar or spain etc.
There are lots of companies out there which are going with outsourcing sales. The mobile website company have been taken good decision with outsourcing sales. I don't think it will be silly mistake from it. All must be know that WAP is now replaced by HTML in mobile Internet world.
