I am currently creating a computer programe to be used in a classroom setting. The idea itself is derived from my own teaching experiences and pedagogical influences. as far as i know there are no similar programmes. The processes involved are not novel but applied in the way that they are in this setting; it is.

Is it possible to patent computer programe (software)?
    would copyright laws apply?

If the answer is no, what would stop someone from just taking what i have created and doing it better (spending more money on it etc...)

Not sure - I think you can patent the process, but not the software.

    You can copyright the software!

Software is protected by copyright in the UK. The US is a bit different.

Patents allow companies to monopolize the creativity by barring the use of other businesses and to gain benefit in economic system. Software patents are growing greatly.
