hi Tommy. assume you have tried restoring stuff from them, did it go all ok?

Also...do you know what guarantee they give. Ie if the worst was to happen and they lost your data what would they do about it?

    Cheers Chub

I test restoring every week and I have lost no data and it has never gone wrong.

As for guarantee I really dont know, you would have to read into it more.

personally I would do both. look at the bufallo external drives, I have 2 x 2tb ones at home and 6 x 2tb ones at work but you can have a smaller one. also check your ISP they may do an online backup for free, some do, if not Microsoft will up to 5GB I believe, want me to find the link?

Could anyone recommend a UK online backup company?

A suggestion rather than a recommendation:

    http://www.backupsanywhere.com/

It's run by Lee Mason, who is a respected member on another forum.

Thanks, I have found solution now. This is how I am doing it:

    1. Data from my laptop/main pc/other pc is automatically backed up on to the main pc's additional hard drive.

    2. Data from the additional hard drive is then automatically backed up on to an external hard drive.

    3. Data from the external hard drive is automatically backed up to the FTP folder that my website sits on.

While I am here I'd just like to say thank you to Simon who kindly provided an external hard drive at a very competitive price.

Sounds good, as you are getting both redundancy and off-site, and making good use of your FTP space, which you are paying for anyway.

Can only suggest that from time to time you check that it is working, and that you can restore a test file.

No point paying for this. If the data is small then go for a USB stick. If it is big then go for an external hard drive. If the data does not need to be portable then why not create a back-up drive in one of the networked machines?

I can recommend "ibackup" as an online, offsite option. Always worked, easy to use, secure, and inexpensive... Up to 1-2Gb free for personal use (need to confirm how much space).

Various schedule options, including continuous backup.

Though you may have your solution now already.

If you've got a mac, their Time Capsule which works with their Time Machine application is supposed to be good. Not got one myself but I've heard good reports.

Some backup application programmes offer like data compression with limited storage device. Many types of files backup allows by the filtering.Carbonite is the best online software on the internet for the storage of the backup. These is the main used for the business purpose because all business data is the big so it is very important for us.
