One for the Webhosts – Integration with WHMCS

whmcs_120If you’re in the web-hosting industry then you have no doubt heard of WHMCS.

It’s the absolute cream of the crop when it comes to automated billing and client management and support. Whilst it’s suitable for (and used by) many other industries that want to give their clients a combined billing, management and support  interface, it’s gained a lot of traction in the web hosting space.

We like to be associated with the “best of breed” and a lot of our customers use WHMCS so getting integrated with them was a high priority for us.

At first we tried to use a third-party development company who turned out be totally incompetent and ended up taking our money and running (Note to lawyers of BoostPlatform – it’s not libelous as we can prove it!).

In the end we worked directly with WHMCS themselves and they’ve developed an add-on for their software using our accounting API. It copies across all customer and invoice/payment data from WHMCS and keeps KashFlow updated with any new payments and customers. All very simple and slick, but will save our mutual customers a whole load of time and eliminate the possibility of human error in manually copying over data.

The Addon is free of charge, so go take a look at http://wiki.whmcs.com/KashFlow_Accounting to get started.

So glad to see this finally here. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and it works perfectly, certainly makes accounts much much easier!

Shame to hear you were scammed by BoostPlatform, hopefully you get your money back and this ranks highly in google for their name :)

I’ve been using this for a few weeks and despite early hiccups it seems to be working well now. I’d still very much like the option to have invoices come across as soon as they are created rather than when they are paid. Hopefully this will be in future versions.

Any chance there will be a sync the other way in the future to push customer invoices from KashFlow to WHMCS?

This is great news! I’m going to test it right way.

Do you plan to add support to HostBill (hostbillapp.com)?

    Hi Mark,

it’s not currently on our development agenda.

I need to change my hosting billing system as WhoisCart is no longer maintained. This addon could swing it for me to go with WHMCS.

How does it avoid creating 2 entries in KashFlow with the PayPal integration enabled as well?

  • http://www.kashflow.co.uk Duane Jackson

    Hi Vincent,

The simple answer is that it doesn’t. If your sales all go through PayPal then you shouldn’t also use WHMCS as well or you’ll have duplicate data.

Best to use one or the other, not both.

OK, although a shame as I like many don’t just use WHMCS for billing, and also use other payment gateways apart from PayPal.

As both WHMCS and KashFlow store the PayPal transaction ID, are there any plans to sync the data using that as a de-dupe?

Sorry to be a pain :-)
