The CSV importer allows you to import your data from spreadsheet software into KashFlow. This article explains some basic and fundamental information that you should be aware of before you import.
A few prerequisites:
- Our CSV Import tool is sensitive to any special characters; all your data should only use alphanumeric characters where possible, and only use very basic punctuation symbols. You should avoid accented letters and special symbols entirely. For more information on troubleshooting, click here.
- Your CSV files need to be saved in windows format. This means if your on an Apple device and editing in Numbers you need to save the file by clicking ‘Export’ and then save the file as .CSV (Windows). For more information, click here.
Accessing the Importer
You can get to the CSV Importer from with your KashFlow account by navigating to
Settings > Import Data > Import CSV Files
Mapping is essentially organised your data into the correct columns so KashFlow knows how to handle it. Most of the time this just involves copying and pasting the data you have got in your spread sheet to the appropriate provided template.
Some of our columns are required, and some are optional – the article for every import template will advise on what information must be included for a successful import.
Formatting is also very important; the articles will also explain how your data should be formatted and include examples too. You will also be able to download the individual CSV templates by simply clicking the Download Template link.
